Kelly Times Two

Christopher, 10th grade, and Hannah, 5th grade, are very eager to begin a brand new school year. This will be Hannah's last year of elementary school. Christopher will be getting his drivers license during this school year, assuming he will meet or exceed our family requirement of getting at least an 87 or higher in every class.   They hope to have perfect attendance this year, and my fingers are crossed that they are well enough to reach that goal.  I always look forward to this time of year to get into new routines and habits. We had root beer floats to celebrate last night, and gave them a pep talk for success this year, followed by two beautiful father's blessings from Kelly. Best wishes to our wonderful children for an awesome school year. We love you both and are so proud of you.

School was out a few days ago for the summer, on May 31, and Hannah has spent hours reading in her free time.  Yesterday she read Charlotte's Web, and today she is reading Pippi Longstocking, in addition to the Harry Potter series for the second time.  We are so proud of her for developing this passion to read and hope that she will continue to throughout the summer and her life. 

Today, like most days when Hannah gets home from school, she proudly told me that she had finished all of her homework. She is such a diligent student and I never have to remind her to do any of her work. She is extremely responsible and takes a lot of pride in her work and does really well in school.  She has never been tardy or absent from school and never wants me to schedule doctor or dentist appointments during school hours.  I had been busy all day hosting a jewelry party for my good friend, Sue, a stylist for Stella & Dot.  I was exhausted and had an annoying headache that had been bothering me since last night. Hannah rode her bike home from school, came inside and got her backpack out, and was going through her Tuesday folder so I could look over her graded papers and sign off for any handouts that came home.  She eagerly asked me if I would read her November writing assignment and I was too busy at the time, and my head was killing me so I told her I...

Here am I (five months pregnant), with Hannah, Kelly, Lindsey, and Christopher, walking out of the San Antonio temple after our new daughter was sealed to us for time and for all eternity during a special, sacred ceremony, this past Saturday afternoon.  We were happy to have a wonderful group of guests in attendance with us, Kelly's two sisters, Debbie and Brenda, my sister, Julie, Kelly's mom and dad, my mom, my good friends Lorraine and Stewart, Carol and Rick, and one person from our ward, my buddy, Sue. Dinner later that night consisted of a feast at the Salt Lick in Driftwood, Texas, for some incredible pork ribs, cole slaw, and more. It's been a while since I updated my blog because my personal computer died and I've been so disappointed to have to use the laptop.  So many exciting events keep occurring, like our daughter's baptism, so I am forcing myself to keep journaling these important moments in our family.  Congratulations to Hannah on her decision to be baptized!  She was baptized on Saturday, July 23, in Zhubei, Taiwan, at 2:30 in the afternoon by her Daddy, who for the first time ever, said the baptismal prayer in Chinese.  He had rehearsed it many times in this foreign language, but had a bit of trouble remembering some words, then on about the fourth try after repeating Hannah's full name, it came back to him and the ordinance was beautiful.  The missionaries in our ward, Sister Carroll, from Utah, and Sister Choi, from Korea, helped to teach Hannah and were able to share their talents with playing the piano and leading the music for the baptism.
