Kelly Times Two

He was my college sweetheart.  He had a mustache and a mullet.  I had big, bleach-blonde, permed hair.  We were a match made in heaven. Twenty-six years ago today, I married the one guy that I never got sick of after we dated for a while.  Historically, I would always like a guy until he liked me back.  And since Kelly kept liking me after we had become girlfriend and boyfriend, I was wondering what might be wrong with him.  Why wasn't I getting sick of him? We were inseparable and saw each other every day. He even wrote me a song!  How can a girl not be impressed with that? He had set a goal to not get married until he was finished with his Bachelor's degree.  I had set a goal to marry him before the year was out.  I won.  Ha ha.  We married each other on a hot summer day in the beautiful Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  We have been though good times and bad, and our love has grown so m...

Isaac has captured my heart and most of my time, as you can tell from the lack of activity on my blog, and quickly grown from this tiny little guy a few months ago to this bigger boy now! Another distraction for me has been the ease of Instagram, where I regularly (daily) take pictures, then upload it to the site with a little caption.  It's been my way of saying what we've been up to in a convenient way, by holding my iPhone while feeding or rocking my son, and giving me something to do in the meantime.  I would LOVE to get caught up and share more! I can just say that it's exciting being the mother of four wonderful children.  I would have never thought this was possible at this stage in my life.  I'm eternally grateful that I have been so blessed! If I don't post for a while, just know that I'm savoring every spare moment I can with my wee one, and blogging can wait.  I do miss my blog and reading about my friends who blog too.

3 ripe bananas, mashed 1/2 cup butter, softened 1/3 cup sugar 2 eggs 2 teaspoons baking powder 1/4 teaspoon baking soda 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 1/4 cups all purpose flour 1/2 cup chocolate chips 1/2 cup pecans, chopped I have tweaked two different recipes to develop what is now my favorite. These any time snackalicious mini muffins aren't too sweet and are high rising and have a buttery, banana, chocolate chip, nutty flavor.  Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Mix moist ingredients together, then add the dry ingredients, except for the chocolate chips and pecans.  Blend all the batter ingredients together, then add the last two.  Using a large stainless steel scoop, fill silicone mini muffin pan cups.  Bake for 8 minutes at 400 degrees, then lower oven temperature to 350 degrees. Bake additional ten minutes.  Remove from oven and let cool in pan for five minutes, then pop out by pushing from bottoms of each silicone cup and continue cooling on rack. ...

My little cherub, Isaac David, was born on March 19 at 10:29 pm and weighed 5 pounds, 9 ounces, and was 18.75 inches long, and we are completely smitten with this little angel!  I'll share his story in the future on my blog, but for now, I want to post these remarkable photos that we had taken of our newborn when he was ten days old, plus a few from the hospital. This was right after the nurses cleaned him following the Cesarian section delivery, my first time to hold my baby boy.  I was relieved to finally meet him, especially after a rough day, when we were told that he hadn't grown in two weeks when I went in to have an ultrasound, and was ordered to go to the hospital to have him within 24 hours since he was a likely candidate to be a stillborn if we had waited the eleven days until his induction date was scheduled. In addition to the most delightful baby shower which I previously blogged about, my wonderful neighbors put on another splendid soiree for us a few days later.  Now we are so well stocked with darling baby outfits, essential diapers, colorful toys and more.  The generosity of my friends has given me much reason to be humbled with gratitude for such niceness!  I'm blown away at the outpouring of love and kindness that has been shown to us.  Here are some pictures from the neighborhood gathering. What an absolutely gorgeous baby shower my friends from church hosted for me and baby Isaac on February 25, about a month before my due date.  The event was on a perfect Saturday afternoon at Sue's house, and she had some help from Summer, Sierra, Cheryl (who left early before I could get her picture taken with us!), and Elizabeth (whom I also didn't get a picture of unfortunately) and Jill. Here's my baby bump at 8 months pregnant! Cheryl decorated all these darling little Onesies t-shirts with appliqued neckties and bow ties to use for the shower banners, so Isaac is all set for adorable undershirts!  It seems like that must be the trend because he got some bibs and a couple of other gifts with the neck tie look, which is simply adorable! Every detail of the party was so festive and colorful in kiwi green, turquoise, blue and brown, including some of the hostesses.  They were so cute to do that!
