September Card Camp & Lunch Bunch

Today at our monthly group that we call lunch bunch, I gathered up the registrations for the next card camp from those who plan to join me. Once a month, the lunch bunch goes to different places in Austin and today we went to Mama Fu's. There was a huge turnout today, with Conni (plus Claire), Cristin, Peggy, me, Aren (plus Micael), Michelle, Caroline (plus Olivia), Jenny (plus Jolie and JJ), Sue, Sierra (plus Abby), Paige (plus Tyson), Molly (plus Liam and the baby), Molly's mother-in-law, La Nan (plus Dalin and Rhett), Michele, Kim, Holly (plus Kennedy), Jillian (plus Simone), Lonna (plus Gwen), and Lindsay (plus Adelyn). Wow! What a turnout--twenty women and fifteen children!
My deadline for registering was today for my card making shindig that I'm going to hold two weeks from tonight and I wanted to plan what cards we'll be doing so I could show everyone. I came up with an entire Halloween theme and most everyone seemed excited about them, so I was pleased.

After that, I went by Summer's house to pick up her little baby, Brooklyn. Brooklyn is here right now and has been all afternoon while Summer gets a break. She's feeling extremely under the weather so I am helping her out. Brooklyn has been an angel. Lindsey is holding her right now and fed her a bottle a moment ago. She seems content, but Lindsey has homework to do, so I must relieve her. Summer warned me that this time of night, the baby, who is six months old, starts getting cranky and is ready to wind down for the evening. It's been fun to have a sweet little baby girl around.

Love the cards and you know I wish I could be there! That is so great you can help Summer out with Brooklyn, you always seem to have such a willing and helping hand Kelly!

I LOVE THOSE CARDS!!! And I'm so glad that lunch was a hit. I've already got our next place in mind. Thanks again for taking Brooklyn for me. I needed that break and she was pooped from having soooo much fun. She went to bed without blinking. Thanks a million!!!

Great! I tried to keep her awake so she could save her sleeping time with you. She was so cute. You should have seen her checking out her arms and fingers. She was getting a kick out of controlling them and seeing that she had the power to make them move. It was adorable to see.

I'm glad you love the cards...I was worried that people might not like the "all Halloween" theme, but it was the opposite, and they seemed thrilled.

I hope you feel better today, Summer!

It's my birthday!

Here's a cute little picture of me in kindergarten, 1968. All my life, I've never forgotten this shot below in first grade (1969) when the photog asked me to say "peaches" and he snapped the shot at the "ch" sound. If you're trying to get a kid to smile, don't tell them to say peaches. It's scarred me for life. Mom, what the heck happened to my hair? Did I fix it myself? After all, I was in second grade and very capable. My grandma crocheted that groovy vest for me, but who is responsible for the hack job on my hair? Hello, 1970! Who knows where my third grade picture is. We moved so often, changing schools, that I might have missed picture day. Next is my fourth grade mug shot. I must have sworn off bangs by then. The BIG REVEAL!

We LOVE our new pool! There are a couple of problems that need to be fixed, so we're crossing our fingers that they get it done right, and soon, considering we have given them the final check for the balance of the pool, and we don't have any leverage. Three of the waterfalls work. This is the main one and I like the natural look. Below, here's the deep end waterfall, and it's flows nicely. The water sheer like this one, that flows into the shallow beach area, is the fall that is not working. It's frustrating, but hopefully they'll fix it soon. The fountain in the spa is blocked too. Here's the small rock waterfall, which works just great. It took about 18 hours to fill the pool and we practically watched it gallon by gallon. I stayed up all night long, making sure it didn't overflow. We swim in it every day. Last night we went on a midnight swim and it was beautiful. The water temperature is perfect.
