Lindsey's final high school concert

Monday night was the final concert for Lindsey's high school singing days and it was so sad for me! It was a wonderful concert and the Show! Choir was FANTASTIC. Here's Lindsey with friends Nidal and Melody. Here's the Honor's Women's Choir performing (she's in both). You can see Lindsey on the front row, bottom right, second from the end.
Show choir earned the highest rankings, all ones, in a recent competition. They sounded amazing during this farewell concert! I loved every minute of it and was so proud of each of these fine students for all their hard work over the years, and was especially tender-hearted and on the verge of weepy, toward my little Lindsey girl. I can't believe she will be a high school graduate in a little more than a week.
They beautifully sang three songs A Capella and it was a very moving performance!
Lindsey turned in her red and black choir dresses at the school today. They will sing the National Anthem at graduation and the school song, I believe. Other than that, she's done! And I'm sad and happy. It is indeed bittersweet.
To wrap all this positive, wonderful singing energy up with an exciting ending, Lindsey was one of seven seniors who received a $500 scholarship from the choir booster club! Congratulations to Lindsey on pouring her heart and soul into choir the past eight years and adding joy to those who have been within the sound of her beautiful voice. She has been asked to sing a duet at the stake seminary graduation with a young man from her choir. They had their first practice on Sunday and it sounded great. She plans to audition for the women's choir at BYU-Idaho in the fall.

You really do have so many exciting things happening all the time. What a great ending to all that choir practice she has put in over the years.

I can't believe that she will be graduating already, she is such a great girl I bet that she will have a good time in Idaho...well maybe not if she is there during the long freezing winters.
Graduating already? Where has the time gone? What a fun high school career she has had. You raised one great girl, Kelly.
I remember having high school concerts there! Good times!

Our new daughter!

This picture was taken at church a few days ago while Kelly was on his way to the US for work this week. We have some wonderful news to share.  We are adopting 7-year-old Yeh Min Yu, who has been in our home off and on the last couple of months.  There's a lot that goes into making this official, dealing with US Homeland Security to arrange for her immigration visa, Taiwan courts and Chinese documents, getting a home study done by a licensed, qualified person, applying for a passport.  You have no idea.  I'll be glad when it's all done, but I couldn't wait to share this bit of joy with everyone.  We will name her Hannah to go on her new US birth certificate.  She's excited and nervous to go to America with us.  She can say more than 100 words in English so far.  Some of her favorite things to say are "small dog, butterfly, apple, pig."  She says it more like pig-uh.  We love her and feel this is one of the reasons we came to Taiwan....

San Antonio temple weekend

Here am I (five months pregnant), with Hannah, Kelly, Lindsey, and Christopher, walking out of the San Antonio temple after our new daughter was sealed to us for time and for all eternity during a special, sacred ceremony, this past Saturday afternoon.  We were happy to have a wonderful group of guests in attendance with us, Kelly's two sisters, Debbie and Brenda, my sister, Julie, Kelly's mom and dad, my mom, my good friends Lorraine and Stewart, Carol and Rick, and one person from our ward, my buddy, Sue. Dinner later that night consisted of a feast at the Salt Lick in Driftwood, Texas, for some incredible pork ribs, cole slaw, and more. We strolled along the Riverwalk to show our visiting family members one of San Antonio's popular tourist spots.  It was a beautiful, windy day, the Saturday following Thanksgiving, in San Antonio.  We tried to find a corner with less wind to blow in our faces.  More photos of the family.  The family, strolling along th...

Book of Mormon Stories Pool Party!

Hopefully this title, Book of Mormon Stories Pool Party , does not sound irreverent, because as an Activity Days leader, I felt compelled to come up with a fun end-of-the-summer event that is also uplifting, and after all, who doesn't love a splash in the pool on a hot day in August?  My current church calling, or official role that I volunteer for, allows me to plan two activities each month for girls ages 8 to 11, that will encourage them to learn and live the gospel, serve others, and use the talents Heavenly Father has given them, to learn to do many good things.  This year's seminary course of study for high school students is The Book of Mormon, and since I am a huge fan of this inspired book of scripture, I came up with this idea to have each girl show up to my house with a written summary of one of her favorite stories from within its many pages, and share it with the rest of the girls, while outside in our swimsuits near our backyard swimming pool!  As each girl ...
