In the past year alone, I have hosted four baby showers in my home. Sierra's was three days ago, Paige's was last month, and I did one in the summer for a coworker of my husband's, an engineer named Kari. Plus this one for Mandi. Time flies! One year ago today, I hosted a baby shower for Mandi Kirk, who has since moved to California. We keep in touch through our blogs, and since I didn't have a blog this time last year, I wanted to post some pictures from Mandi's shower on the one-year anniversary of her Saturday afternoon baby shower. Mandi had made some cute art pieces for her new baby's room in these colors, so I used the same red and olive colors for the baby shower.
The four-layered chocolate cake was delicious and looked nice on my SLAH Jackson cake stand.
Mandi's mom owns a florist, so I supported my local favorite florist, Lakeline, and was pleased with the bouquet I had ordered.
Heidi, Holly, and Kim, looking gorgeous and spectacular, as always. Heidi has since relocated with Ben, and Holly and Kim will be gone by the end of the summer. I'm enjoying them while they're here, and love keeping up with Heidi since she's moved away to Reno while her husband is in medical school. Kim's husband just graduated with his master's degree from U.T. (Hook 'em Horns!) and Holly's husband just finished his doctorate degree here too. Nate is going to have to hide all of his burnt orange attire and start shopping for a new burgundy wardrobe as he's been hired as a professor at Texas A & M in College Station. (I hosted a shower for Holly a few years ago when her first baby arrived and she and I were working as leaders with the Young Women's program together.) Nate and Holly are building a home and I took a road trip to see the new home site with Holly a couple of weeks ago and persuaded her to have Nate's study painted a cozy shade of maroon, to show his new allegiance to A&M. Their builder gave his stamp of approval recently and said that Nate's new home office would make an Aggie proud.
Here's Mandi, kicking back after enjoying some food from the Mexican buffet luncheon, using Brook's famous recipe for Rios Tacos (or something like that--it's been a year and I can't remember exactly). Debbie is here posing too, with her barely there pregnant belly. Actually, all three of these women in the photo were pregnant at the time. I live among a bunch of fertile women, obviously.

I am very flattered to have my own post on your page. You are an amazing host and party planner. You are definitely talented as well! I too miss you and I also miss all of my Texas friends. I cannot believe it has been a year already. Life has changed since then in so many ways. It is very hard to look at myself pregnant it seams like another person. Thank you for being a great friend and making my baby shower so special!
