My friend, Kay, who moved to Bastrop, used to help in the church nursery when Christopher was a little guy and took this picture. She recently emailed it to me--doesn't he look cute? His personality matches that smile too. Here's my little boy a few years later, posing with another cute grin, but quite a bit bigger. He is ten years old today! This picture was taken by a classmate last week when Christopher and I were at a field trip to the Bob Bullock Texas History Museum with all the fourth graders at his school.
About two weeks ago, the two of us hand delivered his birthday party invitations for a celebration we had planned today from 3:30 to 5:00, which Christopher's been looking forward to. Sadly, he's had a stomach ache and fever and has missed school ever since I picked him up in the nurse's office on Monday morning through now. Yesterday he had a fever again, and the students cannot return to school if they've had a fever of more than 100 degrees in the past 24 hours. I had to email the parents of his friends to postpone his birthday party for a week.
We'll still be celebrating Christopher's birthday today as a family and he'll love all the presents we picked out for him. Poor guy being stuck at home on your birthday though. What a way to spend your big day. He just finished reading Swiss Family Robinson, so I went to the video store tonight to rent the movie for him to watch for him to veg out during the day. He began a tradition in kindergarten where he likes to dress up in his Sunday best clothes on his birthday. I just picked his suit up from the dry cleaners and had it all ready to wear on his special day. Hopefully he can wear it on Friday, or Lindsey suggested he dress up on his adoption day, which we call Christopher Appreciation Day, on October 22. Happy 10th birthday to my wonderful son, whom I love, love, love!
Christopher shares the same birthday (10/4) as my nephew, Garry, my sister, Tracy's son. Happy birthday to G.G. too, who is serving our country in the United States Air Force, and is stationed in Idaho, after about three years in Japan, where he and his wife, Melissa, had their first and only child, Hunter.

I hope he's completely well and fever free today. At least he won't have to take any tests or quizzes on his b-day!
