Hair

Here's what my hair was like one month ago. I like having it short so much better than long hair just because it's so much easier to fix. Long hair is a pain! I have really thick hair and it takes forever to dry, then style, so I was constantly pulling it back in a ponytail. Then I got it cut off, but later with my long hair in the front, I was always clipping it back or putting it behind my ear. So I did what I have only done a couple times in my life--I got bangs. Here's the before shot. Now see the after pose. I got my hair cut on Wednesday and I think the bangs are a little short, but they're out of my eyes, not having to be clipped, which I actually this is a cute way to wear them, but it's just a change. I get so tired of the same style all the time. It's nice to change it up.
Kelly walked in the door yesterday when he saw me and said, "you got your hair chopped off." He never comments on my hair. I'm not quite sure if that meant he likes it or not. Most guys like long hair. Lindsey said she didn't like it too much, but that it was okay. It was kind of a Randy Jackson type of response. "I don't hate you for it or anything, but it's ah-ight."

I am wearing my new necklace that I just ordered on Monday and it arrived on Friday, from my friend, Summer's new online store, Tres Chic Boutique. It doesn't match what I'm wearing, but I had just opened the mail and put it on. Good luck, Summer!

I really like it. That's how I had my bangs a few months ago, but I've since grown them out. I figured it would be easier to deal with longer hair when I'm in the humidity of China... which, as a matter of fact, I might point out that I'll be there in 19 days!

I love your new look. I think that change is important. Besides, it is just hair. It will always grow back if you change your mind later. Hmm... now you got me thinking about getting a change. I usually go back and forth between bangs and no bangs!

Don't you just love the way a new hair cut makes you feel. I do love a change. I think that it looks great, and I love the bangs. Your color is great too.

Kelly, you have such great hair, it looks good no matter what you do with it. Even when you let it dry naturally...it's beautiful!

I think the bangs are fab! I think they frame your face perfectly if you want my opinion. I go between short/long bangs. Right now they are WAY too long and all I can do is clip them back. I've always been a fan of shorter hair.

I love it sis. It frames your face nicely. I am in kind of the same hair dilemma as you were. You, Tracy and Valerie got the pretty Jackson eyes. I got the Thompson nose. Lucky me!

Our new daughter!

This picture was taken at church a few days ago while Kelly was on his way to the US for work this week. We have some wonderful news to share.  We are adopting 7-year-old Yeh Min Yu, who has been in our home off and on the last couple of months.  There's a lot that goes into making this official, dealing with US Homeland Security to arrange for her immigration visa, Taiwan courts and Chinese documents, getting a home study done by a licensed, qualified person, applying for a passport.  You have no idea.  I'll be glad when it's all done, but I couldn't wait to share this bit of joy with everyone.  We will name her Hannah to go on her new US birth certificate.  She's excited and nervous to go to America with us.  She can say more than 100 words in English so far.  Some of her favorite things to say are "small dog, butterfly, apple, pig."  She says it more like pig-uh.  We love her and feel this is one of the reasons we came to Taiwan....

San Antonio temple weekend

Here am I (five months pregnant), with Hannah, Kelly, Lindsey, and Christopher, walking out of the San Antonio temple after our new daughter was sealed to us for time and for all eternity during a special, sacred ceremony, this past Saturday afternoon.  We were happy to have a wonderful group of guests in attendance with us, Kelly's two sisters, Debbie and Brenda, my sister, Julie, Kelly's mom and dad, my mom, my good friends Lorraine and Stewart, Carol and Rick, and one person from our ward, my buddy, Sue. Dinner later that night consisted of a feast at the Salt Lick in Driftwood, Texas, for some incredible pork ribs, cole slaw, and more. We strolled along the Riverwalk to show our visiting family members one of San Antonio's popular tourist spots.  It was a beautiful, windy day, the Saturday following Thanksgiving, in San Antonio.  We tried to find a corner with less wind to blow in our faces.  More photos of the family.  The family, strolling along th...

Book of Mormon Stories Pool Party!

Hopefully this title, Book of Mormon Stories Pool Party , does not sound irreverent, because as an Activity Days leader, I felt compelled to come up with a fun end-of-the-summer event that is also uplifting, and after all, who doesn't love a splash in the pool on a hot day in August?  My current church calling, or official role that I volunteer for, allows me to plan two activities each month for girls ages 8 to 11, that will encourage them to learn and live the gospel, serve others, and use the talents Heavenly Father has given them, to learn to do many good things.  This year's seminary course of study for high school students is The Book of Mormon, and since I am a huge fan of this inspired book of scripture, I came up with this idea to have each girl show up to my house with a written summary of one of her favorite stories from within its many pages, and share it with the rest of the girls, while outside in our swimsuits near our backyard swimming pool!  As each girl ...
