Our pool superintendent took about a week off from scheduling anything to be done. In my frustration, I was relieved to see this deck crew show up today to get the SunDeck ready to install. This was a nice view seeing the crew of workers enjoying a lunch break in our front yard. These men work so hard and we are so grateful for all they do. There's been an entirely different crew for every different aspect of the pool that has been completed, with plumbing, electricians, excavating, tile, etc. We have been amazed at how talented they are and how much sweat and muscle power they put into a day's work. We're extremely, completely, thankful for these men for all they've done.
Yay! I can now open my kitchen door, and finally not fall off into a death drop. Instead, I'll step into a pile of fill dirt and sand bags, but hey, why be so picky?
These are the frames of the steps down from the deck, toward the pool. They'll have concrete, then be finished of with flagstone. I can hardly wait to see the end results.
I have modified the plans of the Sun Deck area and will have it extended to our side garage door, and to make the existing concrete steps out from the side garage door bigger, into a semi-circular shape, then covered with flagstone. I think the change will be great for when we have a lot of foot traffic coming through the garage. I'm glad we're seeing progress again. It's been a very slow week otherwise.

Thanks to for the movie reviews. I've seen many of the ones that you've commented on and agree with your comments (especially the porqueria in transformers, clearly aimed at kids, what were they thinking???).
I enjoyed the bio on Kelly, it's funny how you can get to know someone fairly well and yet not know them at all. I enjoyed getting to know him better. His home in CO where he grew up sounds cool, on a small lake. I'd like to read his paper that he won an award for, not sure if that is sharable... If it's too over my head in the first few paragraphs I'll likely yield and be onto something else. But, since an award was in order, I suspect it would be decent reading...
So, I have a question, is there a way (initials, numbers, whatever) to more easily refer to you vs. "the other Kelly"? I vaguely remember you two sharing the same middle initial too (I know what his is but for privacy I won't mention it here) so now I'm thinking K1 vs. K2 but who is who?
By the way, I love the "Keeping up with the Jones" blog name of one of your readers, how clever!
It's cool to be back in touch. I'm usually pretty good about keeping up on blogs, though I'm often more of a lurker unless I have something witty (in my own mind) and often sarcastic to add as a comment. I have been known to not "play well with others" on blogs. I have a sister-in-law who is pretty good at antagonizing me. She wants me to get a dog or pet and I'm extremely allergic to poop (I don't like the smell). But she's managed to stir up my children to gang up against me... I'm still stubbornly in that battle, standing by my sensitivities to yuckiness.
Enough said for this as it is now more of an email reply than a blog comment. I guess to legitimize this to your blog post, I'll say that the materials that you've chosen for the stone and what not are very tasteful (perfect)! I like the renditions by the pool company in earlier blog posts, they are pretty accurate to what appears to be coming along thus far.
