Love, hugs and kisses, i heart you cards

At my last card camp, we created more than 200 cute cards altogether that were Valentine themed, but not specific to that day. This one was the favorite by most. I LOVE (get it?) the way it turned out. The yellow lighting doesn't do the soft colors justice. Imagine the love we sent out with our handy work when each card reached its recipient and put a smile on his or her face! That's one thing that makes this process worthwhile, not to mention the chance to get together with our girlfriends and meet new friends for an evening. My friends and I will make some of these "so very happy for you" cards at my next card camp on March 6. (Sierra is doing our precutting for this card. Thank you so much, Sierra!)
I just made this one (below) tonight and am still stuck on the love theme apparently. I love putting these cardstock colors together: pumpkin pie, pink passion, pretty in pink, and old olive. I just used a new stamp from my Trimtastic set (the ric rac stamp on the chocolate chip cardstock) for the first time.
This hugs and kisses card was fun, but since my slit-hole punch is missing, it was more challenging of a card to make at last month's get together. It was kind of a pain, but everyone managed (some more easily than others). Mandi was the person who first introduced me to these plastic "crystal" gems to use on cards. They add such a fun three-dimensional element to cards. The best part is that these little gems come in an assortment of colors and sizes from Hobby Lobby for under a dollar for twenty or thirty of them. (Shana is going to help do precutting for this card. Thank you, Shana!)
Kathy created this card and I have always wanted to make them, so this is one of the ones we'll be doing at the March 6 card camp. (Paige is going to help do the precutting for this card. Thank you, Paige!)

I wish you could too, Heidi. If you ever plan a trip to Austin, let me know and I'll try to schedule a card camp when you're here.

I love the "LOVE" card so much! I wanted to get that set, but held off. I am glad you didn't.

All of these cards look so cute. I bet that you have such a great time putting them together. However it really does look like a ton has to go into each one.

Our new daughter!

This picture was taken at church a few days ago while Kelly was on his way to the US for work this week. We have some wonderful news to share.  We are adopting 7-year-old Yeh Min Yu, who has been in our home off and on the last couple of months.  There's a lot that goes into making this official, dealing with US Homeland Security to arrange for her immigration visa, Taiwan courts and Chinese documents, getting a home study done by a licensed, qualified person, applying for a passport.  You have no idea.  I'll be glad when it's all done, but I couldn't wait to share this bit of joy with everyone.  We will name her Hannah to go on her new US birth certificate.  She's excited and nervous to go to America with us.  She can say more than 100 words in English so far.  Some of her favorite things to say are "small dog, butterfly, apple, pig."  She says it more like pig-uh.  We love her and feel this is one of the reasons we came to Taiwan....

San Antonio temple weekend

Here am I (five months pregnant), with Hannah, Kelly, Lindsey, and Christopher, walking out of the San Antonio temple after our new daughter was sealed to us for time and for all eternity during a special, sacred ceremony, this past Saturday afternoon.  We were happy to have a wonderful group of guests in attendance with us, Kelly's two sisters, Debbie and Brenda, my sister, Julie, Kelly's mom and dad, my mom, my good friends Lorraine and Stewart, Carol and Rick, and one person from our ward, my buddy, Sue. Dinner later that night consisted of a feast at the Salt Lick in Driftwood, Texas, for some incredible pork ribs, cole slaw, and more. We strolled along the Riverwalk to show our visiting family members one of San Antonio's popular tourist spots.  It was a beautiful, windy day, the Saturday following Thanksgiving, in San Antonio.  We tried to find a corner with less wind to blow in our faces.  More photos of the family.  The family, strolling along th...

Book of Mormon Stories Pool Party!

Hopefully this title, Book of Mormon Stories Pool Party , does not sound irreverent, because as an Activity Days leader, I felt compelled to come up with a fun end-of-the-summer event that is also uplifting, and after all, who doesn't love a splash in the pool on a hot day in August?  My current church calling, or official role that I volunteer for, allows me to plan two activities each month for girls ages 8 to 11, that will encourage them to learn and live the gospel, serve others, and use the talents Heavenly Father has given them, to learn to do many good things.  This year's seminary course of study for high school students is The Book of Mormon, and since I am a huge fan of this inspired book of scripture, I came up with this idea to have each girl show up to my house with a written summary of one of her favorite stories from within its many pages, and share it with the rest of the girls, while outside in our swimsuits near our backyard swimming pool!  As each girl ...
