What NOT to do with a Post-It note

Tip #1 Do not leave a Post-It note on your dashboard to remind you to call Austin Driving School to schedule driving hours for your daughter, who has been old enough (since July) to get her driver's license, but has never scheduled a single appointment on her own to get her driving hours in.

Reason: When driving your SIXTEEN-YEAR-OLD child to early morning seminary, and observing that something is not quite right with your car, which is being sluggish as you attempt to accelerate, then finally cluing in what the problem is after dropping her off, removing the sticky note, that has been covering the fuel level.

How embarrassing. The last time I ran out of gas, I think I was in high school. Thank goodness for RuthAnn and Gustavo and their five-gallon gas can. My car is running fine now.

What tips do you have for what NOT to do with a Post-It note?

What not to do with a Post-It note? Don't rely on one to help you remember anything! I didn't have to learn that the hard way, luckily, but what I find is that one part of the sticky side usually gets stuck to the other side, they get crumpled up and stuck in between pages of my day planner. It's usually just not worth the hassle to use those things. Thank goodness you weren't stranded!

Kelly, that is hilarious! I have always stressed about running out of gas and never have, knock on wood. I loved all the other pictures too from Halloween and and the quints- what cute little babies and Rachelle looks amazing. I can't even look that good after a birth of one!

what a crack up you are. I think that you are so funny. I am also glad to hear that everything worked out alright. I will have to think of something that you should not do with a sticky note...well I know that you should not give the full note pad to a 20 month old...or else you will just have a room full of yellow papers.

that is a funny story, it sounds like something I would do. Sister like sister... Post it notes don't work for me. If I put them on a kitchen cabinet or something, it acts like dust. It just stays there and gets ignored until one day, "oh, there's a post it note, I wonder what it's for?"

Hmm, what not to do with a Post-It note... I'll think of the most random thing I can. Ok: don't make a prom dress out of them. It would probably be really uncomfortable, and if it rained, you're HOSED.

LOL, I'm so sorry that happenend. Running out of gas as an adult is humiliating for some reason isn't it? We're supposed to be so responsible.

Ok, NEVER ever use a Post-It note if you've run out of toilet paper. Ouch :) Not that I know...I'm just trying to give you a tip like you asked for, ha ha ha.

I wish I had a good reason like that for why I ran out of gas once....but I don't. Turns out I just like to push the envelope! :) The good news is....once it does happen to you, it rarely happens again. ;)

That sounds like something I would do! I have run out of gas twice---both times I was with my mother. I think we were having so much fun running around shopping that we forgot to check the gas gauge.

My tip: don't use post-it notes as temporary labels for sterilite storage boxes. When I did this, they had all fallen off by the time I went back to put the permanant labels on. :-)

Book of Mormon Stories Pool Party!

Hopefully this title, Book of Mormon Stories Pool Party , does not sound irreverent, because as an Activity Days leader, I felt compelled to come up with a fun end-of-the-summer event that is also uplifting, and after all, who doesn't love a splash in the pool on a hot day in August?  My current church calling, or official role that I volunteer for, allows me to plan two activities each month for girls ages 8 to 11, that will encourage them to learn and live the gospel, serve others, and use the talents Heavenly Father has given them, to learn to do many good things.  This year's seminary course of study for high school students is The Book of Mormon, and since I am a huge fan of this inspired book of scripture, I came up with this idea to have each girl show up to my house with a written summary of one of her favorite stories from within its many pages, and share it with the rest of the girls, while outside in our swimsuits near our backyard swimming pool!  As each girl shares

Our new daughter!

This picture was taken at church a few days ago while Kelly was on his way to the US for work this week. We have some wonderful news to share.  We are adopting 7-year-old Yeh Min Yu, who has been in our home off and on the last couple of months.  There's a lot that goes into making this official, dealing with US Homeland Security to arrange for her immigration visa, Taiwan courts and Chinese documents, getting a home study done by a licensed, qualified person, applying for a passport.  You have no idea.  I'll be glad when it's all done, but I couldn't wait to share this bit of joy with everyone.  We will name her Hannah to go on her new US birth certificate.  She's excited and nervous to go to America with us.  She can say more than 100 words in English so far.  Some of her favorite things to say are "small dog, butterfly, apple, pig."  She says it more like pig-uh.  We love her and feel this is one of the reasons we came to Taiwan.  Who would have thoug

Elder Larson to return from Thailand soon

Soon is relative, I suppose. Our son has been away from home more than a year and a half as he has been volunteering as a full-time missionary in the Thailand Bangkok Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since September 14, 2016. He will be home in four months and is working so hard, knowing his time there is winding down. He has been assigned to train Elder Ben Meyer, from Sydney, Australia, as they serve in Ubon, Thailand. Christopher has been there since November. We are very proud of his dedication and hard work. This week in Thailand, the new prophet, President Russell M. Nelson, with his wife, Wendy Nelson, along with one of the Twelve Apostles, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, and his wife, Patricia Holland, will be on their world ministering tour and be where our son is. The Church members and missionaries in Thailand are very excited and happy for this special visit! I can't wait to hear how it goes, and I look forward to pictures and stories to come.
