It's Valentine's Day!

We met Sue and Rick for dinner tonight. First we took the kids to their house to grandma sit for them, then we went from there to Truluck's. Aren't they the cutest couple? Dinner was outstanding. I had lobster, Kelly had stone crab, among other things, and ended the meal with a chocolate bag for dessert. It was a beautiful evening and surprisingly, our first night out on the town with Sue and Rick. We really should do this more often!
We ran into Dave and Cheryl there too. They were just finishing their meal when we arrived for our 7:45 reservations.
Our waiter, Antonio, served us well and asked for us to request him the next time we go there. I would. He did great. Here he is posing with the dessert tray.
For those who are curious how today went for our kids, let me fill you in. Lindsey was showered with love by many. One boy gave her a box of Godiva chocolates, another guy gave her a beautiful rose with greenery and baby's breath, another guy gave her a hug, and a few people gave her some little chocolates. She had a fun day, even though she had to take three tests. Oh, and she got paid generously to grandma sit, even after multiple attempts to render her services to Rick and Sue for V-day.

Christopher had a lovely day too in addition to a lesson in "girls 101" when he discovered that Smrithi was using him for his origami skills, then still not being satisfied. She told him yesterday that when she learns how to make the birds herself, she will use colored paper, and was disappointed that all of the birds he made for her were in plain white. Then today she told him that he {only} made her about twenty birds, and that wasn't very many. Too funny. Lesson number one about women: They're never satisfied, are they?

I hope you got some satisfaction on YOUR Valentine's Day! Hugs and kisses to everyone!

Looks and sounds like you had a great Vday! And sounds like Lindsay faired pretty well, too! I'm sorry Christopher learned the horrible truth about women after such a sweet gesture. ;)

San Antonio temple weekend

Here am I (five months pregnant), with Hannah, Kelly, Lindsey, and Christopher, walking out of the San Antonio temple after our new daughter was sealed to us for time and for all eternity during a special, sacred ceremony, this past Saturday afternoon.  We were happy to have a wonderful group of guests in attendance with us, Kelly's two sisters, Debbie and Brenda, my sister, Julie, Kelly's mom and dad, my mom, my good friends Lorraine and Stewart, Carol and Rick, and one person from our ward, my buddy, Sue. Dinner later that night consisted of a feast at the Salt Lick in Driftwood, Texas, for some incredible pork ribs, cole slaw, and more. We strolled along the Riverwalk to show our visiting family members one of San Antonio's popular tourist spots.  It was a beautiful, windy day, the Saturday following Thanksgiving, in San Antonio.  We tried to find a corner with less wind to blow in our faces.  More photos of the family.  The family, strolling along th...

The BIG REVEAL!

We LOVE our new pool! There are a couple of problems that need to be fixed, so we're crossing our fingers that they get it done right, and soon, considering we have given them the final check for the balance of the pool, and we don't have any leverage. Three of the waterfalls work. This is the main one and I like the natural look. Below, here's the deep end waterfall, and it's flows nicely. The water sheer like this one, that flows into the shallow beach area, is the fall that is not working. It's frustrating, but hopefully they'll fix it soon. The fountain in the spa is blocked too. Here's the small rock waterfall, which works just great. It took about 18 hours to fill the pool and we practically watched it gallon by gallon. I stayed up all night long, making sure it didn't overflow. We swim in it every day. Last night we went on a midnight swim and it was beautiful. The water temperature is perfect. I'm extremely thankful that we have our new...

Our new daughter!

This picture was taken at church a few days ago while Kelly was on his way to the US for work this week. We have some wonderful news to share.  We are adopting 7-year-old Yeh Min Yu, who has been in our home off and on the last couple of months.  There's a lot that goes into making this official, dealing with US Homeland Security to arrange for her immigration visa, Taiwan courts and Chinese documents, getting a home study done by a licensed, qualified person, applying for a passport.  You have no idea.  I'll be glad when it's all done, but I couldn't wait to share this bit of joy with everyone.  We will name her Hannah to go on her new US birth certificate.  She's excited and nervous to go to America with us.  She can say more than 100 words in English so far.  Some of her favorite things to say are "small dog, butterfly, apple, pig."  She says it more like pig-uh.  We love her and feel this is one of the reasons we came to Taiwan....
