Pool design by Dub

We're looking at pool designs for our home and I just got the second company's idea tonight and I'm absolutely crazy about it. I thought I LOVED the first design, as I had not looked at anything else. But now I am smitten with this plan, and like it MUCH better, by a mile. Now I'm crossing my fingers that the pricing is comparable to the first. Wish us luck. How do YOU like this pool and spa design? We have an odd sized lot and I love the deck and awesome trees in our backyard, so I couldn't visualize any good possibilities and am so thankful for Dub's talent. He did awesome in my book. I just want to note that in these sketches that the exterior of our house (windows, siding, color) in Dub's pool design do not look like our casa whatsoever. The SHAPE of the house is accurate, but that's about it. Our home is red brick and in my humble opinion, is much more lovely, especially the windows he has on this sketch of our humble abode are so lame.

Oh my gosh... we will be so envious, we really want a pool in our yard, but up here they are ridiculously expensive and rather impractical!

Tina, a pool and spa in Austin is very practical. We'll be able to use it year round even, if we'd like. Cross your fingers!

You are getting a pool?! How fun! Seems perfect for living in Texas.

Heid, we certainly are strongly considering it. I will let everyone know once we decide. I WOULD post the first design for all to see, but the designer was overly protected and didn't give us anything tangible, and we only got to see his design on his laptop and didn't give us anything else.

This afternoon I am meeting with one other guy too.
i think that's a great pool. I'm not sure what we are going to do this summer without my parents pool around! A pool in the backyard is so much fun. I say go for it!

The design is beautiful Kelly!! My question is....what kind of cover will be on it? Since it is not a traditional shape, can they still put an automatic and fully secure cover over it? That's my concern - safety first!!

We have a love/hate relationship with our pool. Love the fun, hate the endless mantainance.

Make sure you do a salt chlorination system - for sure! It's so much better than regular chlorination, and your hair, skin, and swimming suits will thank you for it :)

A pool would be so fun! And your kids are just the right ages to get maximum use out of it. I like the design, especially that it leaves a nice patch of lawn to play on.

Those designs are incredible! Your own personal oasis! I love it!! We had a pool when we lived in Arizona (you pretty much have to in order to survive!) and it was so much fun! I was the one responsible for cleaning though and that got old pretty quick but aside from that, they are FABULOUS to have!

Looks great. I love that you are entertaining the idea of a pool. How long does it take for the entire installation? I think that you would love it. And what a great excuse to get some new swim wear.

You're right! This designer did a fantastic job coming up with a design that totally compliments your yard (and your beautiful home!) The deck is beatiful and I love the shade provided by trees and the gazebo. I can imagine fancy pool parties with kids splashing and the adults mingling on the deck sipping raspberry lemonade or enjoying the hot tub!
Woah. Cool. We're hoping to put in a pool in a few years - you'll have to let me know who you recommend after you go through the process.

p.s. I'll be right over with my suit. :)

Love this pool, especially compared to the photo album you had in the car. I think this is a must have!! I want to come swimming when it's done.

Kelly, this design looks great--I like the creativity of it and the preservation of your yard--it enhances, not detracts from, your space. That would be fun to have! We use our hot tub a lot.

Looks so fun! I think that's the perfect present to you from retiring from PC after all these years and for Kelly doing so great at his job.
Wow--fabulous pool. How nice to have a backyard that you're thrilled about. We're not going to be able to get you out of the backyard!

Book of Mormon Stories Pool Party!

Hopefully this title, Book of Mormon Stories Pool Party , does not sound irreverent, because as an Activity Days leader, I felt compelled to come up with a fun end-of-the-summer event that is also uplifting, and after all, who doesn't love a splash in the pool on a hot day in August?  My current church calling, or official role that I volunteer for, allows me to plan two activities each month for girls ages 8 to 11, that will encourage them to learn and live the gospel, serve others, and use the talents Heavenly Father has given them, to learn to do many good things.  This year's seminary course of study for high school students is The Book of Mormon, and since I am a huge fan of this inspired book of scripture, I came up with this idea to have each girl show up to my house with a written summary of one of her favorite stories from within its many pages, and share it with the rest of the girls, while outside in our swimsuits near our backyard swimming pool!  As each girl shares

Our new daughter!

This picture was taken at church a few days ago while Kelly was on his way to the US for work this week. We have some wonderful news to share.  We are adopting 7-year-old Yeh Min Yu, who has been in our home off and on the last couple of months.  There's a lot that goes into making this official, dealing with US Homeland Security to arrange for her immigration visa, Taiwan courts and Chinese documents, getting a home study done by a licensed, qualified person, applying for a passport.  You have no idea.  I'll be glad when it's all done, but I couldn't wait to share this bit of joy with everyone.  We will name her Hannah to go on her new US birth certificate.  She's excited and nervous to go to America with us.  She can say more than 100 words in English so far.  Some of her favorite things to say are "small dog, butterfly, apple, pig."  She says it more like pig-uh.  We love her and feel this is one of the reasons we came to Taiwan.  Who would have thoug

Elder Larson to return from Thailand soon

Soon is relative, I suppose. Our son has been away from home more than a year and a half as he has been volunteering as a full-time missionary in the Thailand Bangkok Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since September 14, 2016. He will be home in four months and is working so hard, knowing his time there is winding down. He has been assigned to train Elder Ben Meyer, from Sydney, Australia, as they serve in Ubon, Thailand. Christopher has been there since November. We are very proud of his dedication and hard work. This week in Thailand, the new prophet, President Russell M. Nelson, with his wife, Wendy Nelson, along with one of the Twelve Apostles, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, and his wife, Patricia Holland, will be on their world ministering tour and be where our son is. The Church members and missionaries in Thailand are very excited and happy for this special visit! I can't wait to hear how it goes, and I look forward to pictures and stories to come.
