Celebrating a soon-to-be baby boy

Cute as a cupcake!
Here are more pictures from the baby shower. Lindsay and Nate's son will be here in June.

Lindsay's mom and sisters all look a like. Their smiles are all similar. So pretty too!
Paige made these incredible carrot cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, topped with a chocolate flower.

Paige and Lonna organized everything, and several people helped to make the food tasty and pretty. I hope Lindsay knows how much she's loved by all of us!

Book of Mormon Stories Pool Party!

Hopefully this title, Book of Mormon Stories Pool Party, does not sound irreverent, because as an Activity Days leader, I felt compelled to come up with a fun end-of-the-summer event that is also uplifting, and after all, who doesn't love a splash in the pool on a hot day in August?  My current church calling, or official role that I volunteer for, allows me to plan two activities each month for girls ages 8 to 11, that will encourage them to learn and live the gospel, serve others, and use the talents Heavenly Father has given them, to learn to do many good things.  This year's seminary course of study for high school students is The Book of Mormon, and since I am a huge fan of this inspired book of scripture, I came up with this idea to have each girl show up to my house with a written summary of one of her favorite stories from within its many pages, and share it with the rest of the girls, while outside in our swimsuits near our backyard swimming pool!  As each girl shares…

Tragic news arrived in my mailbox

Remember the lavish, gorgeous wedding that Kelly and I attended in Nashville two years ago for Rebekah Gee and Allan Moore? Click here to see pictures that I posted then. I got this piece of mail today inviting me to "A Celebration of the Life of Dr. Allan Frederick Moore," and immediately thought of his father, also a doctor. I thought, "I don't recall Allan's dad having the same first name," then googled it. His dad's name is Michael, by the way. I found out that Allan, 31, died about six weeks ago when he and Rebekah were riding a Vespa (motorcycle) and a 21-year-old woman driving a Range Rover or Land Rover, collided with them. I'm numb and saddened by this awful news. I hope to attend the memorial service for Allan that will be held on October 7 in Boston. That will have been Rebekah and Allan's second anniversary. Rebekah's dad was the main guy (Chancellor, I believe) at Vanderbilt University when Kelly and I were there in Nashville f…

Rebekah & Allan's Rehearsal Dinner

What an incredible weekend we had in Nashville celebrating the marriage of Rebekah and Allan! The Friday night rehearsal dinner was an absolutely incredible event in and of itself, with every detail carried out with the utmost consideration. We had a fantastic time and enjoyed seeing Rebekah for the first time in about fifteen years, half her life ago since she is now 30!Allan had one foot in the door with his passion for bowties--a trademark that Rebekah's dad, Gordon is well known for. The groom's bow-tie cake was served at the rehearsal dinner and was the most delicious chocolate cake I have ever tasted with a rich chocolate truffle, sour cream pound cake and ganache icing served with vanilla bean ice cream. It was a mouth-watering, one-of-a-kind clever design. The rehearsal dinner menu included Spanish blood oranges over sweet bibb lettuce with crumbled gorgonzola cheese, grape tomatoes, and honey vanilla vinaigrette, Black Angus petit filet mignon over a portabello mus…
