The BIG REVEAL!

We LOVE our new pool! There are a couple of problems that need to be fixed, so we're crossing our fingers that they get it done right, and soon, considering we have given them the final check for the balance of the pool, and we don't have any leverage.
Three of the waterfalls work. This is the main one and I like the natural look.
Below, here's the deep end waterfall, and it's flows nicely. The water sheer like this one, that flows into the shallow beach area, is the fall that is not working. It's frustrating, but hopefully they'll fix it soon. The fountain in the spa is blocked too.
Here's the small rock waterfall, which works just great.
It took about 18 hours to fill the pool and we practically watched it gallon by gallon. I stayed up all night long, making sure it didn't overflow.

We swim in it every day. Last night we went on a midnight swim and it was beautiful. The water temperature is perfect. I'm extremely thankful that we have our new pool! The not yet landscaped natural backyard for seven years was worth it, to be able to have our pool built this spring and have it all paid for, and not go into debt. This is the largest purchase we've ever made besides our three homes we've bought (and sold two). Hooray! I'm sure we'll be having plenty of parties here and a lot of fun as a family.

That looks fantastic! I love that you stayed up all night drop by drop gallon by gallon, to make sure that it filled up all the way.

You are so fun. I am sure that you will have so much fun with the new perfect pool right out your backdoor.
I know that you will have some killer parties with that around.

Looks so inviting! What a wonderful addition to your home. I sure hope they fix everything for you. It can be scary to have to rely on human decency when you have no other leverage. Hope it all works out. Do you have year round pool weather in TX? I've never been there and don't really know what your winter climate is like. Even so, it sounds like you'll make the most of it however long the season lasts.

Awwwsummm! I love the finish of the bottom and sides....what is that? It looks like it would be really rough, but I assume it is smooth. I hope you get your issues fixed. I still have issues with mine 5 years later (I probably shouldn't tell you that!).

Maryanne, the pool surface is called Pebble Sheen. It's got plaster beneath it, then tiny smooth pebbles pressed into it. It's not rough on the feet at all and doesn't seem to snag swimsuits either. The flagstone and moss rock on the other hand do.

I'm excited to report that Randy has been out today and has unclogged the water sheer above the beach area and it flows beautifully. The fountain in the spa is still weak and is clogged with splaster a bit, but the jets work fine. My fingers are still crossed, but I'm glad they're addressing the issues.

Kelly-

Hey, that looks amazing! Oh, my gosh. It has been so awesome to see from the drawings to the real thing. Chris and I love every bit of it and think a pool like that would look perfect in our back part of our property. Hey, we will trade you some grass for a pool. K. Love it! Congrats and enjoy!

Wow - it looks amazing!!! I know you'll enjoy every minute you spend by your pool and it will be great for many, many family/friend gatherings. And swimming at night was always my favorite when we had a pool in Arizona.

Kelly I'm so excited about the end result! It is so beautiful. I would live in my suit if I had that pool (and I wasn't 26 weeks prego)! Enjoy enjoy. I'm bookmarking this so that when it's time to build ours (in 15 years) I'll know exactly what to do!
That looks so awesome, Kelly! I'll be right over. ;-)

P.S. When is card camp again?!

I'm pretty sure you went for a lot of midnight swims and parties in this lovely pool. I hope it’s still as pretty as it was when you revealed those beautiful waterfalls to us. Take care of it, and you’ll have more years of fun here in your own water haven.

The pool looks perfect. It does look like all those little problems were already fixed. Hooray for those parties you were planning to hold there! This will be an excellent venue for that. I’m sure your friends and family will have a blast in this wonderful oasis in your home.

Book of Mormon Stories Pool Party!

Hopefully this title, Book of Mormon Stories Pool Party , does not sound irreverent, because as an Activity Days leader, I felt compelled to come up with a fun end-of-the-summer event that is also uplifting, and after all, who doesn't love a splash in the pool on a hot day in August?  My current church calling, or official role that I volunteer for, allows me to plan two activities each month for girls ages 8 to 11, that will encourage them to learn and live the gospel, serve others, and use the talents Heavenly Father has given them, to learn to do many good things.  This year's seminary course of study for high school students is The Book of Mormon, and since I am a huge fan of this inspired book of scripture, I came up with this idea to have each girl show up to my house with a written summary of one of her favorite stories from within its many pages, and share it with the rest of the girls, while outside in our swimsuits near our backyard swimming pool!  As each girl shares

Our new daughter!

This picture was taken at church a few days ago while Kelly was on his way to the US for work this week. We have some wonderful news to share.  We are adopting 7-year-old Yeh Min Yu, who has been in our home off and on the last couple of months.  There's a lot that goes into making this official, dealing with US Homeland Security to arrange for her immigration visa, Taiwan courts and Chinese documents, getting a home study done by a licensed, qualified person, applying for a passport.  You have no idea.  I'll be glad when it's all done, but I couldn't wait to share this bit of joy with everyone.  We will name her Hannah to go on her new US birth certificate.  She's excited and nervous to go to America with us.  She can say more than 100 words in English so far.  Some of her favorite things to say are "small dog, butterfly, apple, pig."  She says it more like pig-uh.  We love her and feel this is one of the reasons we came to Taiwan.  Who would have thoug

Elder Larson to return from Thailand soon

Soon is relative, I suppose. Our son has been away from home more than a year and a half as he has been volunteering as a full-time missionary in the Thailand Bangkok Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since September 14, 2016. He will be home in four months and is working so hard, knowing his time there is winding down. He has been assigned to train Elder Ben Meyer, from Sydney, Australia, as they serve in Ubon, Thailand. Christopher has been there since November. We are very proud of his dedication and hard work. This week in Thailand, the new prophet, President Russell M. Nelson, with his wife, Wendy Nelson, along with one of the Twelve Apostles, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, and his wife, Patricia Holland, will be on their world ministering tour and be where our son is. The Church members and missionaries in Thailand are very excited and happy for this special visit! I can't wait to hear how it goes, and I look forward to pictures and stories to come.
