Ready for our summer vacation, Christopher and Lindsey are happy to depart from the Austin airport on July 24, a Utah holiday that honors the Mormon pioneers. There wasn't a non-stop flight to Salt Lake City, so we flew through Phoenix on Southwest Airlines. Kelly isn't a huge fan of SWA, but I love it because they usually have the best fares, and I'm a fan of bargains.
Christopher loved the walking escalators at the Phoenix airport. We all had fun walking the opposite direction of the walkway and it felt like an over-sized treadmill. We had about two hours of time to kill, so this was the only exciting thing we could come up with.
Lindsey was the least amused by Christopher and my childish behavior. She managed to deal with us well though.
We got a minivan once we arrived at the Salt Lake airport. We've never owned one, so it is a novelty for us. I enjoy the extra space when traveling, but I don't think I would want to drive one on a regular basis because they're such a pain to park. We drove straight to my brother-in-law, Tom's, sister Jan's mountain getaway for dinner and a nice afternoon. That night, we went back to Julie and Tom's and enjoyed fireworks in their cul-de-sac with the neighbors.
