Landscaping started

The Grass Patch crew showed up today to start digging and putting the irrigation pipes in our backyard around our new pool and in the front yard.
All this dirt is going to be taken to the back to try to flatten out an area that is sloped that I hope to be more flat. They'll build a short retaining wall in one section of the backyard to achieve that.
We've never had a sprinkler system in the front (I'm it), and I'm so glad to not have to worry about it any more. What a pain it's been, although I don't really have to water the grass very often because of our humid climate.
One totally ridiculous observation is that they put the valve box or what ever that rectangle green plastic thing is, in the middle of our lawn. What the heck? I don't think so! Of course, I didn't notice it today while they were here digging. I'm going to request that they move it tomorrow to a less "center of the yard" location. It was so bizarre to me that they'd think that would be fine.

Looks like a mess! Isn't landscaping fun?! (When you get done, maybe.) It'll be beautiful and you'll be so glad to have your yard just the way you want it (hopefully!).

And I can't believe you've never had a sprinkler system in your front yard! You won't know what to do with yourself once that is in. ;)

How exciting to be getting new landscaping. We are actually doing ours right now too...lots of work but all worth it in the end! I also love the outside of your house, homes in Texas are so awesome...I think I want to live there someday!

What are you going to be spending your time planning when the yard and lawn are done? I think that you are going to need a new hobby.

The last few months have been really exciting around your house.

Our lawn would be dead as a doornail if we didn't have a sprinkling system here in dry Utah. The guy who put the green box in the middle of your lawn was probably the same guy who put thermostats in the hall way in the middle of the wall at my house! Duh, put them where you hang out on an inconspicuous wall.
I think it's looking great. i can't wait to see it in person. Looks like you might have some extra time on your hands when your sprinklers start working and you don't have to manually water your lawn. I guess it's a good thing you got a pool!!

Yeah really, what were they thinking? They weren't!
good thing you got on them quick about that. Where you supposed to buy one of those giant "gazing balls" to place on the box in the center of the lawn to make it seem intentional? NOT!
