My two kids

What a beautiful, mild December afternoon this was in Austin, just before sunset. Christopher looks very handsome here. It took me forever to pick out clothes for all of us to wear, but since I really liked last year's family photo outfits, I went with the same thing, black long sleeved shirts and jeans, because it still looked fabulous to me and it goes with anything. My friend, Gabby, knew I was frustrated about not getting a decent family Christmas picture taken yet, so she had us meet her at one of her favorite spots and she snapped a few family photos and some individual ones for us. Nice work, once more, Gabby! Sometimes it's best to leave these matters to the professionals, and that she is.
Lindsey's got a halo in this picture, she's a little angel. What loving children we've been blessed with. They're always "abounding in good works" and being good examples to people around them, me especially. I'm just amazed at how fortunate, or blessed, I am. I guess instead of a big brood of kids, I have been given a couple of really awesome ones to make up for it. Knock on wood, though! I don't what anything to change and have them turn into hoodlums! I don't think that will happen though, they're on the right path for now. Let's hope it stays that way.

They both have halos! Great photos of my niece and nephew. You are indeed blessed and our whole family is as well for getting to share them with you.

Yes, it's true, Julie, two halos.

I'd say the possibility of your kids turning into hoodlums is pretty high. I mean, look at the rest of us: practically our whole family is made of hoodlums. There's no chance for Lindsey or Christopher. Sorry. :D

I really like those pictures. I think that you do have such great kids, and what a blessing that is for sure. Every time I see Lindsey I feel like she is more grown up than the last.

I hope that you post some more of the great photos of your family.

Great photos, and from what you say....you are blessed that they are great children too! I so love it when a picture turns out well...a rare occurrence for us these days. I loved your little family letter/book too! Hope 2009 continues to bless you and your family :0)

Those pictures are just beautiful. I love the way the sun catches in their hair.
those are both great pictures. I think Lindsey looks so pretty. I LOVED the family ones that were in your christmas card. All of them turned out so great.

Those are some great looking pictures. I agree with you on the black and denim. It's smart to choose something that you won't look back at and wonder what you were thinking!

San Antonio temple weekend

Here am I (five months pregnant), with Hannah, Kelly, Lindsey, and Christopher, walking out of the San Antonio temple after our new daughter was sealed to us for time and for all eternity during a special, sacred ceremony, this past Saturday afternoon.  We were happy to have a wonderful group of guests in attendance with us, Kelly's two sisters, Debbie and Brenda, my sister, Julie, Kelly's mom and dad, my mom, my good friends Lorraine and Stewart, Carol and Rick, and one person from our ward, my buddy, Sue. Dinner later that night consisted of a feast at the Salt Lick in Driftwood, Texas, for some incredible pork ribs, cole slaw, and more. We strolled along the Riverwalk to show our visiting family members one of San Antonio's popular tourist spots.  It was a beautiful, windy day, the Saturday following Thanksgiving, in San Antonio.  We tried to find a corner with less wind to blow in our faces.  More photos of the family.  The family, strolling along th...

Triathlon triumph

Are you kidding me? A triathlon and I have never belonged in the same sentence. It must have been time for something new! (The "BEFORE" race shot, with goggles and swim cap in hand.) What an unforgettable week this was! I actually DID enter my first triathlon, with the goal of simply finishing it. Take note of the emphasis on the word FIRST, because I loved it so much, that you can guarantee that there will be more. It was a blast. Seriously. My friends Lorraine and Robin had trained and signed up to do the event, which was two days ago, on Saturday. Three days beforehand, I heard about it and basically had a spontaneous urge to join them, so I registered. The only partial preparation ahead of time that I had been doing was cycling in the neighborhood here and there on my mountain bike with some other friends. And doing some micro-laps in our backyard pool. Our friend, Dave, was also there. The three of us women appreciated Dave's encouragement and support, as he's ...

The BIG REVEAL!

We LOVE our new pool! There are a couple of problems that need to be fixed, so we're crossing our fingers that they get it done right, and soon, considering we have given them the final check for the balance of the pool, and we don't have any leverage. Three of the waterfalls work. This is the main one and I like the natural look. Below, here's the deep end waterfall, and it's flows nicely. The water sheer like this one, that flows into the shallow beach area, is the fall that is not working. It's frustrating, but hopefully they'll fix it soon. The fountain in the spa is blocked too. Here's the small rock waterfall, which works just great. It took about 18 hours to fill the pool and we practically watched it gallon by gallon. I stayed up all night long, making sure it didn't overflow. We swim in it every day. Last night we went on a midnight swim and it was beautiful. The water temperature is perfect. I'm extremely thankful that we have our new...
