Upstate New York (and Canada), part two

First, I'd love to say this, "Happy 19th birthday, Lindsey!"
Now back to our vacation pictures. We got to visit Niagara Falls for the first time and heard that the Canadian side was much better. Here are some shots from just outside of the good ol' USA in our neighbor's land. Canadian waterfalls...
Canadian streets...
Niagara Falls from the Canada side...
Canadian flowers...
Now you can start to see how beautiful the view really is, but keep in mind, they're looking at America. (I'm just being a proud American here, I do love my country dearly.)
The perspective from the horseshoe falls that was hard to see on the US side...
Especially as a passenger on the tour boat below...
Strolling along back to our rental car to get back to America, since our insurance coverage didn't include crossing the border...
There was an awesome picture of the falls in our hotel room in Buffalo through the wrought iron fence the family is posing by here...
It was so much fun being a passenger in the Maid of the Mist boat tour down below when the announcer says, "Ladies and gentlemen, THIS is Niagara Falls," as the boat tosses side to side in the rough waters down below. It was so much fun to actually be there.
View of Les Etats Unis...
Gratuitous family vacation shot...
I think we have enough pictures now from the Canadian side. Let's head back home.
Seriously.
Walking through some Canadian casino on the way to the parking garage...
There's no place like home...
Au revoir, Ontario.
Time for some buffalo wings and New York pizza, in Buffalo, New York!
Since I had been missing out on on Tex-Mex food, we had a Mexican pizza, but I was too hungry to take a picture of the pizza. Truthfully, my fingers were super slimy from the hot buffalo wings, which are actually chicken wings in case you didn't know. Kelly was over zealous on this estimation of how many we could eat and we ended up throwing away about 20 wings. They were so delicious and very filling.
My sister, Julie, recommended Buzzy's and we were indeed satisfied.
Here's a view of Canada from the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Oh, Canada, oh Canada!
An American perspective...

We just got drenched from the Maid of the Mist and loved it.
We bought the Discovery Pass directly at the Niagara Falls visitor's center for $33 per person, and $27 for Christopher. That included admission to five different things.

Strange lighting with my camera...our room at the Buffalo Marriott was NOT pink.

Hyatt in Rochester...

This is a SMALL cone from the Chill and Grill in Palmya.
I missed Donny Osmond dining here by a week. Dang it.
I'm getting tired of journaling with all these pictures so I'll probably just stop for now and let the pictures do the talking.

Looks like so much fun. I think that your family rocked the blue rain ponchos very nicely.

And I just wanted to say that the "small" cone looked delish...and I think that I need to go to that place!

Christopher is looking so grown up, and how fun for all of you to take the trip before parting to new adventures and homes. I can't believe Lindsay is heading to college! Where does the time go?

San Antonio temple weekend

Here am I (five months pregnant), with Hannah, Kelly, Lindsey, and Christopher, walking out of the San Antonio temple after our new daughter was sealed to us for time and for all eternity during a special, sacred ceremony, this past Saturday afternoon.  We were happy to have a wonderful group of guests in attendance with us, Kelly's two sisters, Debbie and Brenda, my sister, Julie, Kelly's mom and dad, my mom, my good friends Lorraine and Stewart, Carol and Rick, and one person from our ward, my buddy, Sue. Dinner later that night consisted of a feast at the Salt Lick in Driftwood, Texas, for some incredible pork ribs, cole slaw, and more. We strolled along the Riverwalk to show our visiting family members one of San Antonio's popular tourist spots.  It was a beautiful, windy day, the Saturday following Thanksgiving, in San Antonio.  We tried to find a corner with less wind to blow in our faces.  More photos of the family.  The family, strolling along th...

The BIG REVEAL!

We LOVE our new pool! There are a couple of problems that need to be fixed, so we're crossing our fingers that they get it done right, and soon, considering we have given them the final check for the balance of the pool, and we don't have any leverage. Three of the waterfalls work. This is the main one and I like the natural look. Below, here's the deep end waterfall, and it's flows nicely. The water sheer like this one, that flows into the shallow beach area, is the fall that is not working. It's frustrating, but hopefully they'll fix it soon. The fountain in the spa is blocked too. Here's the small rock waterfall, which works just great. It took about 18 hours to fill the pool and we practically watched it gallon by gallon. I stayed up all night long, making sure it didn't overflow. We swim in it every day. Last night we went on a midnight swim and it was beautiful. The water temperature is perfect. I'm extremely thankful that we have our new...

Our new daughter!

This picture was taken at church a few days ago while Kelly was on his way to the US for work this week. We have some wonderful news to share.  We are adopting 7-year-old Yeh Min Yu, who has been in our home off and on the last couple of months.  There's a lot that goes into making this official, dealing with US Homeland Security to arrange for her immigration visa, Taiwan courts and Chinese documents, getting a home study done by a licensed, qualified person, applying for a passport.  You have no idea.  I'll be glad when it's all done, but I couldn't wait to share this bit of joy with everyone.  We will name her Hannah to go on her new US birth certificate.  She's excited and nervous to go to America with us.  She can say more than 100 words in English so far.  Some of her favorite things to say are "small dog, butterfly, apple, pig."  She says it more like pig-uh.  We love her and feel this is one of the reasons we came to Taiwan....
