The company has said that they will provide Kelly with a car to drive while we are here this year and he finally felt brave enough to pick up the keys and make his way back to the hotel. You should have seen the look on his face when he walked in the door. He was thankful to be alive and described how scary it was and how he ended up at one point on a little narrow road that he immediately realized was a mistake after getting onto it-- the path was for scooters only. So picture Kelly and a million scooters and he's stuck in that lane for the time being, and people are giving him all these strange looks. And while his hands are gripped tightly to the steering wheel, the temporary cell phone in his pocket keeps ringing constantly and he's not about to answer it. The streets here don't exactly just "go around the block." You make one wrong turn and it's hard to find your way back. It was Friday evening rush hour, which was the most intense time, but he made it back safely and I'm pretty sure, he isn't too eager to get back out to drive his silver Toyota Corolla any time soon.
We're taking the high speed rail to Taipei with the kids to celebrate our 24th anniversary tomorrow. The kids and I went on a long walk in the heat of the afternoon and scoped out more places to dine. We were parched and dripping wet from the heat and humidity and were also glad to get back. We are having an amazing time here in Hsinchu.
