I can't spell sometimes!  This photo should say PEDALING, not pedalling.  Let that be your spelling word of the day.
Edited to add: Hannah's given name at birth was Min-Yu, but went by her nickname of Nini, that sounds like "knee knee."




Lindsey and I got to ride normal bikes, which were so much easier and more enjoyable.  Poor Kelly!  He thought the surrey was difficult, but this train-tricycle business was much worse.  I rode it briefly and named it the thigh master.  The next day, we got to attend Janette's baptism, following church.  This is mainly all the foreigners in our ward, with two Taiwanese girls in the front, Ruth and the one whose name I don't know.  We have several members from the Philippines here, who are absolutely delightful and have such faith.

Joy was Christopher's bride in the Shakespeare play that they did together a few months ago.  My grammar was suffering when I edited this photo and now it will be too much of a pain to fix.  New ward boundaries DON'T separate good friends.  Is that better?
Apron city!  When we get them all finished, I want to do a photo of everyone wearing them.  Wish us luck.
All our pictures with Julie were blurry, unfortunately.  We drove up to Taipei to see her a few days ago while she was in town.  Julie was our neighbor in Texas, then moved to Taiwan.  Then she moved to China, and we moved to Taiwan!

It definitely sounds like you guys are getting plenty of exercise! I love the huge bike. I'm sure the girls had a blast!
As far as bluebonnets go, you didn't miss too much this year because of the drought. The red wildflowers are pretty!

Looks like a great week-end! That bike beats all, as long as you're not in the drivers seat. Kelly is a trooper.
The aprons turned out darling, for lots of happy cooking. Well done, that's a big project.

The apron fabrics are very cute, what a fun project. We helped our young women make them, and it's more work than you expect. But you are always amazing, from Shakespeare to hostessing to travel guide on your blog!

This was a really fun blog and I love the family picture!!! Are the aprons easy to make? I was thinking it would be fun to make matching ones for Mallory, Juliette and myself. Keep up the fun (and blogs!)

Triathlon triumph

Are you kidding me? A triathlon and I have never belonged in the same sentence. It must have been time for something new! (The "BEFORE" race shot, with goggles and swim cap in hand.) What an unforgettable week this was! I actually DID enter my first triathlon, with the goal of simply finishing it. The BIG REVEAL!

We LOVE our new pool! There are a couple of problems that need to be fixed, so we're crossing our fingers that they get it done right, and soon, considering we have given them the final check for the balance of the pool, and we don't have any leverage. Three of the waterfalls work. This is the main one and I like the natural look. Below, here's the deep end waterfall, and it's flows nicely. The water sheer like this one, that flows into the shallow beach area, is the fall that is not working. It's frustrating, but hopefully they'll fix it soon. The fountain in the spa is blocked too. Here's the small rock waterfall, which works just great. It took about 18 hours to fill the pool and we practically watched it gallon by gallon. I stayed up all night long, making sure it didn't overflow. We swim in it every day. Last night we went on a midnight swim and it was beautiful. The water temperature is perfect. Our new daughter!

This picture was taken at church a few days ago while Kelly was on his way to the US for work this week. We have some wonderful news to share.  We are adopting 7-year-old Yeh Min Yu, who has been in our home off and on the last couple of months.  There's a lot that goes into making this official, dealing with US Homeland Security to arrange for her immigration visa, Taiwan courts and Chinese documents, getting a home study done by a licensed, qualified person, applying for a passport.  You have no idea.  I'll be glad when it's all done, but I couldn't wait to share this bit of joy with everyone.  We will name her Hannah to go on her new US birth certificate.  She's excited and nervous to go to America with us.  She can say more than 100 words in English so far.  Some of her favorite things to say are "small dog, butterfly, apple, pig."  She says it more like pig-uh.  We love her and feel this is one of the reasons we came to Taiwan....
