Top ten reasons I've neglected my blog

10. On Mother's Day, returning from my niece's graduation in Oklahoma, I brought home some excess cargo--my mother! Mom flew to Oklahoma for a last-minute trip to support Jessica, then came back with us, never saying how long she'd stay. She ended up staying for a week and a half then flew home--we had some fun, watched a few movies, went to some favorite restaurants and shops, and did one shift with the Wilkinson quintuplets.

9. Tile issues with our pool--I panicked when I saw what appeared to be the wrong color being installed, so asked the crew to stop, remove all the tile from half way around the pool. It turns out the number matched the color I ordered, but apparently there was a large variation in color
that I had not expected. My one little six-inch tile sample looked nothing like what was getting installed. Long story short, I now have the same tile, but with my supervision to make sure it was alternated evenly. I still like the finished look, but it's not what I had envisioned at first.

8. I had a baby shower at my house. That's nothing new though, actually.

7. I attended my daughter's end of the year choir concert, and my son's Cub Scout pack meeting--which our family also happened to be in charge of this month. The theme "Leaf It To Cubs" didn't leave much room for creativity, but we held it at the park, did some fun games and a few other tree things and it went fine.

6. I spent more than FOUR hours downtown on Sixth Street in line at Emo's to get tickets to the Foxboro Hot Tubs concert on Thursday night. I made a few quick friends while hanging out all day in the sun with them. Let's see, there's Grant, Alyssa, Rob, Chelsea and Josh. The first three were by themselves like me, and the last two were together. There was a two person limit for tickets, otherwise it would have been fun to bring some guests.

5. After finding out that college students Chelsea and Josh (my buddies I met in line on 6th Street) had driven all night from the tiny gulf town of Nederland, Texas, had slept at IHOP, I invited these complete strangers home (after we bought our tickets) to take showers and have dinner at our casa before the exciting performance of the Foxboro Hot Tubs. We made some spaghetti, garlic bread, and salad then cleaned up nicely before the big show.

4. Well, they might as well spend the night at our house too. "Those poor kids," I thought. Josh and Chelsea came back home after the show, I inflated the Aerobed, decked it out with clean sheets, blankets, and pillows and they were out like a light. They were so cute and slept in until about 10 am, then enjoyed their strawberry shortcake (which was intended for dessert the night before) and orange juice breakfast out on the porch swaying back and forth in the wicker rockers. They ended up finally riding out of my life forever after about noon.

3. Edward lured my attention as I turned through the pages of Twilight to hear all about Bella's strange and captivating love story. I am still surprised that I would actually enjoy a vampire storyline. New Moon awaits me, and I'm excited for the movie that will come out in December.

2. We cleaned out the garage a couple of weeks ago and guess where Kelly piled all the excess items--inside my office. So it's messy and I have been avoiding sorting through all of it.

1. Living life is more meaningful than documenting it. I do miss seeing what everyone else is blogging about though, and I do plan to catch up soon.

Kelly, you just cracked me up. I was laughing so hard to the fact that you just made 3 new friends and invited them right in and not only that but gave them castle treatment. Good for you! Someone would be horrified to come into my house with all these children running around. I think that is a great story and dont think for a second that I know who you bought tickets to go see. I am really out of that entertainment area.
OK My friend in Cincy has asked me to read that Twilight. Is there a book before it??? Maybe I could borrow yours when you are done. She even knows that I am not a reader and she still wants me to read it. Must be good!

Chelsea and Josh were nice. Too bad I only got to know them for a few hours.

Anyway, I'm glad that you found Twilight a good book, and now we can share the same "addiction" and disscuss the books with each other. I'm thinking that I spelled that wrong. lol.

Girl, you are too funny! That doesn't surprise me at all that you would invite your new friends to stay. You are so sweet! You have been one busy lady here lately.

Nothing quite like the book Twilight to help put everything on hold. You are such a mom. Of course you let Chelsea and Josh stay at your house. Somewhere their mothers are thanking you!

Book of Mormon Stories Pool Party!

Hopefully this title, Book of Mormon Stories Pool Party , does not sound irreverent, because as an Activity Days leader, I felt compelled to come up with a fun end-of-the-summer event that is also uplifting, and after all, who doesn't love a splash in the pool on a hot day in August?  My current church calling, or official role that I volunteer for, allows me to plan two activities each month for girls ages 8 to 11, that will encourage them to learn and live the gospel, serve others, and use the talents Heavenly Father has given them, to learn to do many good things.  This year's seminary course of study for high school students is The Book of Mormon, and since I am a huge fan of this inspired book of scripture, I came up with this idea to have each girl show up to my house with a written summary of one of her favorite stories from within its many pages, and share it with the rest of the girls, while outside in our swimsuits near our backyard swimming pool!  As each girl shares

Our new daughter!

This picture was taken at church a few days ago while Kelly was on his way to the US for work this week. We have some wonderful news to share.  We are adopting 7-year-old Yeh Min Yu, who has been in our home off and on the last couple of months.  There's a lot that goes into making this official, dealing with US Homeland Security to arrange for her immigration visa, Taiwan courts and Chinese documents, getting a home study done by a licensed, qualified person, applying for a passport.  You have no idea.  I'll be glad when it's all done, but I couldn't wait to share this bit of joy with everyone.  We will name her Hannah to go on her new US birth certificate.  She's excited and nervous to go to America with us.  She can say more than 100 words in English so far.  Some of her favorite things to say are "small dog, butterfly, apple, pig."  She says it more like pig-uh.  We love her and feel this is one of the reasons we came to Taiwan.  Who would have thoug

Elder Larson to return from Thailand soon

Soon is relative, I suppose. Our son has been away from home more than a year and a half as he has been volunteering as a full-time missionary in the Thailand Bangkok Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since September 14, 2016. He will be home in four months and is working so hard, knowing his time there is winding down. He has been assigned to train Elder Ben Meyer, from Sydney, Australia, as they serve in Ubon, Thailand. Christopher has been there since November. We are very proud of his dedication and hard work. This week in Thailand, the new prophet, President Russell M. Nelson, with his wife, Wendy Nelson, along with one of the Twelve Apostles, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, and his wife, Patricia Holland, will be on their world ministering tour and be where our son is. The Church members and missionaries in Thailand are very excited and happy for this special visit! I can't wait to hear how it goes, and I look forward to pictures and stories to come.
